As I spend longer times on the internet, I noticed that more and more people have stolen information. An article that originally began at one site long ago is slowly circulated to lots of other people, who view the source without crediting back to the original writer. People looking for information will not stay at your site to read if if they have to strain their eyes. They'll head over to the next site for basically the same info. When you have a background image, and you are choosing the font colour you want to use, look at it critically. If the background is darkblue, and you use black text, it's going to be hard to read, because of the low contrast. The black and blue will look blurry, especially if it is in a very small font size. If you are using a dark background, a lighter colour would be best. White, or a tint of one of the colours in your layout would be best. For lighter backgrounds, just the opposite. Use black, or a shade of one of the colours in your layout.

As site owners, what little control we have over what robots are allowed to do when they visit our sites exist in a magical little file called "robots.txt." "Robots.txt" is a regular text file that through its name, has special meaning to the majority of "honorable" robots on the web. By defining a few rules in this text file, you can instruct robots to not crawl and index certain files, directories within your site, or at all. For example, you may not want Google to crawl the /images directory of your site, as it's both meaningless to you and a waste of your site's bandwidth. "Robots.txt" lets you tell Google just that.
