Hiding a file

Let's speak about how to deny access to some important file on your server. These problems are usually solved by using web server commands and configuration files. But it also can be done with HTTP and CGI services. Consider an example when you have some special file and you want to give access to it through the HTML form, with some password. Try the form below two times: first time fill in any word and press the button and second time type the password: webclass. If password is ok you will get restricted file otherwise you will be moved to some error HTML.

Handling file uploading from www forms with CGI.pm

Netscape Navigator 2.0 introduced a new facility for forms, the file uplad element. This element allows the user to select a local file to be submitted with the form to the server that handles the form. File uploading is a frequently needed facility in many occasions, but the technique involved in handling forms that upload files is rarely discussed in CGI programming texts, and online tutorials/references on this topic are few. The technique is very simple as we shall see.
