How to start this ActionScript stuff?

Home > Flash > Actionscripting
To learn a new thing always becomes easier after you know how to start it, therefore the idea and the concept of this tutorial is set up to help you study the Flash ActionScript on your own, and further develop your project with your experience. This is not a literal theory style tutorial that tells how to make this and that with ActionScript, on the other hand, I wish this tutorial will help you knowing how to get easy with ActionScript, and think like ActionScript programmer.

Trace Action

Home > Flash > Actionscripting
This a great tool and I wish I had learned this one before any other action. The time and effort I would have saved. This action enables you to output any variable or string for testing purposes into a special window during run time. This has no effect on the size of the movie and does not appear in your final movie.

If Frame is Loaded Action

Home > Flash > Actionscripting
Use this function for preloaders. You can use it to built a progress bar by putting in the beginning of a movie waiting for the first part of the animation to load (eg frame one: if (frame 20) is loaded goto frame 10 ; frame two: goto frame one ; frame 10 starts the movie. You could also put it into a movie instance to show a progress bar when loading the audio in the background. Once other method for Isframeloaded is to ensure that the content has been downloaded before you trigger a command.

Loading Sequence, Loading Animation or Preloader

Home > Flash > Actionscripting
Flash's ability to load external content, allows smart designers to break-up large projects into several smaller pieces. This can drastically reduce load times, especially for visitors that only plan on viewing certain areas of your site. It can also make updating your site much easier, since you can now update individual sections or content without having to make changes to your whole site. Without a loading sequence though, many of your website visitors may believe your site is broken or not responding properly. Keeping your visitors accurately informed can be very important.
